Checking Accounts

All it takes to open your Checking Account is $50.00. BICCU offers two different Checking Accounts, non-dividend and dividend earning. Account features are listed below. No matter which type of account you select, you will take advantage of:

• No fees
• FREE use of On-Line Banking & Audio Response Teller (ART)
• FREE first 50 checks
• .25% rate reduction on new or used auto loans
• You can begin writing checks the same day you open your account
• Unlimited check writing
• SHAZAMChek Debit Cards available
• Over draft protection (see below).

Non-Dividend

• No fees
• No minimum balance
• No dividends
• Unlimited check writing

Dividend Earning:

• No fees
• In order to earn dividends, you must maintain a $500.00 minimum balance, if your balance falls below $500.00, there will be a $3.00 maintenance cost for that month.
• Dividends paid from the first dollar deposited.
• Unlimited check writing

Direct Deposit

• Best of Iowa offers Direct Deposit, meaning you can have your paycheck or social security check deposited directly into your savings or checking account.
• Direct Deposit makes your funds available more quickly and provides you with the security of knowing that your check will not be lost or stolen.
• Overdraft Protection If you overdraw your Best of Iowa Checking Account, money from your savings account will automatically be transferred to your checking account, if funds are available over the $25.00 minimum balance.
• A cost of $5.00 plus Iowa state sales tax per transfer will be charged.

SHAZAMChek Debit Card

• A debit card is the one card that combines the best aspects of an ATM card and a share draft (checking) account.
• Like a credit card, the SHAZAMChek Debit Card is welcomed at more than 12 million locations worldwide - wherever MasterCard is accepted. You can also use it as a cash card to make purchases at those merchant locations.
• All transactions are automatically deducted from your Best of Iowa checking account, but unlike a credit card, there are no finance charges.
• Best of Iowa offers six FREE ATM transactions per month; a fee of $.75 plus Iowa state sales tax will be charged for each additional transaction.
• When you request a ShazamChek Debit Card you will be assigned a personal identification number (PIN). You will need both the card and your PIN to access your account at an ATM machine. In order to qualify for a SHAZAMChek Debit Card, you must be at least 13 years of age and have a Checking Account at Best of Iowa Community Credit Union.

BICCU members can take advantage of all Privileged Status ATMs. These ATMs do not carry a surcharge for withdrawals. Click the Privileged Status logo to find Privileged Status ATMs nearest you! If your SHAZAMChek Debit Card is lost or stolen during normal credit union business hours, please call us immediately at (319) 395-7670 or (800) 747-1011. If you notice your card is missing after hours, or on the weekend, please call SHAZAM at (800) 383-8000.
